Summary
The Fulton County Schools Archivist carries out the intention of the FCS Archives’ mission: To collect, preserve, and share the history of the Fulton County Schools and the Fulton County Board of Education. The Archivist preserves and maintains a wide range of historical materials, such as FCS board minutes, school yearbooks, and AV recordings. The Archivist also develops curriculum related to archival collections and primary sources for use by the Fulton County Teaching Museum and Fulton County teachers and staff.

Essential Duties
Operates as primary custodian for Fulton County Schools archival collections by collecting and preserving artifacts and ensuring their accessibility to Fulton County Schools stakeholders and Archives patrons
Shares the history of Fulton County Schools through primary sources
Designs and implements a records management system for archival collections
Develops processes to catalogue historical records; and to ensure integrity of records of archival collections
Develops standard operating procedures to ensure accurate, complete, and current archival collection information
Ensures security of archival collections
Maintains the Fulton County Schools public web interfaces for open-source usage and copyright restricted records
Develops processes to ensure schools and other departments have a process and protocol for donations, requests, and loans of materials to and from the Fulton County Archives
Educates Fulton County employees and Fulton County Archives patrons of standard archival processes related to handling of archival collections
Develops, implements, and promotes partnerships between the Fulton County Archives and donors, the Library of Congress, the Digital Library of Georgia, and other archival entities
Conducts the administrative functions of the Fulton County Archives
Ensures equal access to archival records per archival standards and practices
Serves as the Fulton County Archives liaison for all community stakeholders, employees and patrons
Serves as primary custodian of Teaching Museum collections
Functions as the primary grants agent for the Fulton County Archives
Develops and maintains a system for cataloguing Teaching Museum collections
Assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of professional development to support the needs of schools and the Academics Division as it relates to implementing primary sources in curriculum
Collaborates with the Teaching Museum, Academics Division, and other stakeholders to ensure the archives collection and programming represents the needs of Fulton County Schools
Develops curriculum resources for the Academics Division and the Teaching Museum related to the Fulton County Archives collections and state standards
Delivers programming for students, staff, and other stakeholders as it relates to primary sources and the Fulton County Archives collections
Establishes and maintains positive relationships between Academics, the Office of the Superintendent, the schools, and other FCS Departments
Supports the needs of the Teaching Museum
Adhere to open records request of archival collections
Provide tours of archival collections
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Archives or history-related discipline required
Certification/Licensure
Certified Archivist preferred
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ experience working or interning in a related field or a Master’s in MLIS or preservation related discipline

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of school and District policies and practices
Working knowledge of museum software (e.g., PastPerfect, Omeka, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of archival standards and practices
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
Must be able to collaborate effectively with Teaching Museum staff and patrons, District and school personnel, the general public, and diverse groups of people
Excellent organizational and customer service skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
