About New Mexico Military Institute: The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, coeducational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student
body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior
Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for
higher education and post-secondary studies. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges
and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA
delivers a distinctive curriculum emphasizing immersive, intensive, hands-on learning in a structured environment.

Position: The Librarian/Archivist provides professional services by managing information resources and services for
cadets, faculty, staff, and other users of the archives, special collections, and library. In collaboration with all other library
staff, the individual manages various types of information resources and actively participates in all program activities.
This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The annual salary for this position is up to $50,000.00 and is determined
by a combination of professional experience, time in the field, relevant certifications, and subject matter knowledge. The

Tasks:

  •  Manage the J.R. Kelly archival collection, Ward special collection, and McBride Museum collection, including development, processing, preservation, and digitization.
  • Define and apply methodologies and standards for archival and special collections best practices.
  • Inventory and describe the archival museum and special collections materials.
  • Provide professional librarian services, including during night study hall and on weekends as needed; provide orientations and bibliographic instruction in the use of all types of resources.
  • Manage Night Study Hall (NSH) scheduling of staff, services, and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of archival practice, including appraisal, arrangement, description, and preservation of archival records in all formats.
  • Knowledge of museum practices and exhibit design.
  • Knowledge of standard office software and applications, such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • General knowledge of the library's purpose, resources, and services.
  • Knowledge of the Internet, such as but not limited to network browsers and social networking applications.
  • General knowledge of and use of library resources in an educational environment.

Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in archival, history, or library science, or a closely related field, with 3 years’ experience working as a library or archives professional
Preferred:

  • ALA-accredited terminal degree in library science or archival studies.
  • Certified Archivist (C.A.) through the Academy of Certified Archivists
  • Experience working with other types of informational collections, such as archives, museums, or special library collections.
  • Experience working with high school or undergraduate students.
  • Bilingual.
