Job Description    
Provide library instruction, collection development, and subject liaison services primarily in the areas of humanities, special collections, and other subjects as assigned. Serve as archivist for the University Archives & Special Collections. Provide reference services at the main reference desk and for the University Archives & Special Collections.
Required Qualifications    
*ALA-accredited MLS with formal coursework or training in archival studies; *Knowledge and/or experience in processing archival materials and rare books with accepted archival and cataloging standards.
Preferred Qualifications    
*Additional advanced degree in history or related studies; *Certified Archivist, if not certified, must be willing to obtain certification as Archivist; *Experience in digitization; *Experience with ArchivesSpace, PastPerfect or other archival systems

*Provides information literacy instruction particularly for the areas of humanities, special collections, and other subjects as assigned.
    
*Provides reference services for residential and extended campus students and faculty using face-to-face models, telephone, e-mail, and Web.
 
*Creates, implements, and/or maintains innovative electronic instructional resources including web-based tutorials and online library guides for Humanities, Special Collections, and other assigned subject areas.
    
*Select resources in assigned subject areas for print/electronic collections.
   
*Create access to the rich collection of original sources located in the University Archives & Special Collections according to accepted library and archival standards such as DACS, RDA, LCSH, LC Classification, and other metadata schemas and standards.
    
*Provide reference services and research support for researchers at the University Archives & Special Collections.
    
*Create archival images and digital repositories of scanned materials for access and preservation purposes.
  
*Digitize photographs, documents, and other materials, and oversees others in digitization projects.
   
*Make recommendations for appropriate policies and procedures for cataloging, maintaining, and preserving the University Archives & Special Collections.
    
*In collaboration with the Director of the Library, prepare grant proposals.
    
*Work with the Director and other campus officials in obtaining new collections.

*Participate in departmental planning and decision-making, and implementation of library and departmental policies.
  
*Maintain strict confidentiality regarding library patron records and other University matters. *Engage in professional development;
 
*Attend department and university faculty meetings;
 
*Complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University;

*Work some evening and weekend hours; and
    
*perform other duties as assigned.
