Please join us for an ACA Salon on Recertification Guideline Changes starting 2026.
ACA members recertify every 5 years to demonstrate their ongoing professional education, service, and other such activities.
As previously announced, ACA will be rolling out a revised set of recertification guidelines in January 2026 meant to simplify the process of requesting credits for recertification.
We will review the new guidelines, talk about what is different, how the change will take place, and will have plenty of time for your questions.
- Fall 2025: ACA will host online salons to share information about this change and take questions.
- October 14, 2025 4pm Eastern
- November 11, 2025, 1pm Eastern
- December 1, 2025, 1pm Eastern
- Information will also be added to the website at https://www.certifiedarchivists.org/certification-maintenance
- Early 2026: Current ACA members' credits in the Prolydian system (where recertification credits are requested and approved) will be converted to the new system by Prolydian staff with close oversight from ACA.
- ACA will communicate with you about these changes
In order to best support members who are recertifying in June 2026 and 2027, members may recertify by either set of recertification guidelines. Starting in June 2028, we will only use the new guidelines.
Some example changes include:
- more credit for chairing committees, task forces or serving as an executive officer
- potentially more credit for writing, publishing, editing
- no longer being able to recertify with all 60 credits in the Education category and none in the other areas
