In 1999, 404 of 444 respondents answered this question about annual income for 1998. 56% earned more than $41,000 in 1998. 25% earned in the $31,000-40,999 bracket. The 1998 median salary was $55,000 and the mean was $44,725. In 1998, an informal salary survey was made through the Records Management listserv. With only 83 responses from archivists, the certified archivist averaged $39,500 and the non-certified archivist averaged $33,500. In 1996, SAA conducted a salary survey that received 897 respondents. The mean appears to $49,800 for both certified and non-certified archivists combined. In 1989, the ACA survey median salary was $32,000 and the mean salary was $34,000. |
